Key West lawyer Tabitha “Tab” DeWitt is innocently caught up in a search for $10 million and emeralds from a sunken Spanish galleon. The loot was hidden and nearly forgotten after a disastrous old CIA financed sting. Murder, prison, and a change of political winds put the quest for the missing treasure temporarily on hold, but 15 years later the search resumes with a vengeance, tied now to a crooked development scheme. When Tab stumbles on the money, her life spins out of control. Aided by a heroic elderly woman, Tab falls victim to a corrupt judge, greedy builders, and assorted crooks. Abduction, a terrifying sailboat passage, murder, and a threatened hurricane, lead everyone to a twisted and ironic conclusion.

Key West Green Diana Reif Books

Breaking through the many excellent books coming out of Key West these days comes a terrific fast-paced story unique to this small but prominent jewel in the Florida Keys. In Diana Reif's debut novel, she introduces a feisty, tough heroine with a lot of island smarts. Successfully navigating through the corruption of the bubba and legal systems, young lawyer Tab DeWitt finds a way to outwit the bad guys and come out on top. And the bad guys are all there--a corrupt judge, greedy builders, and assorted crooks. At the center of it all is the emerald loot from a sunken Spanish galleon. A great read to take to the beach. I look forward to more stories from this talented author.

Key West Green Diana Reif Books Reviews

Here’s a mystery that has it all a savvy heroine, a terrific plot, plenty of Key West atmosphere, and an assortment of unsavory characters who all want a piece of the action from infamous emeralds retrieved from a Spanish galleon. The ship and all hands came to a bad end during a hurricane in the 17th century, but the avarice that drives the plot is alive and well. With money and the emeralds at stake, the main character, smart and clever Tab DeWitt, a lawyer, has to fight off several baddies, tangling with government agents along the way. As Reif brings the story to a satisfying conclusion, I sensed the promise of an equally exciting sequel.
Outstanding reading! Could not put the book down! Great thriller!! The author makes you feel you are actually with Tab ( lawyer and main character) running through the streets, homes, and stores in Key West and the Keys. The chapters are short which makes easy reading, detailing each of the main character, and provides the next steps and transition to the adventure and suspense. I have been to Key West. The book made it easy and fun for me to revisit each street, Key, and local population. The author has included the great history of the Keys that if you haven't visited Key West, the author will make you feel you are in Key West as you run from the bad guys with Tab. I do not want to give away the final solution to this thriller which will be a surprise. There are many characters involved; lawyers, criminals, Mafia, FBI, CIA, judges, newspaper reporters, and more. They all play a part in murder and kidnapping while trying to find and chase the people through out the Keys that know where the stolen $10 million and emeralds from a Spanish ship sunk off the Keys in the 17th century, are located.
If you like thrillers and excitement, take the time to read this book.
A real thriller
Loved this book! I compare this book to false peaks when hiking to a mountain top. Just when you think the end or climax is near, the action and suspense starts all over again. Can't wait for the next adventure.
A wonderful and exciting tale that surprises as well as entertains. Key West is known for having unique culture and population and these all come alive in this enjoyable book.
Great book written by someone who obviously knows and loves the Florida Keys. Lots of references to local businesses and history. The characters were colorful without becoming caricatures, not an easy task considering many were residents of Key West! I found myself thoroughly enthralled by the story and couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good Florida story, a legal thriller, a fun cops-and-robbers tale, or any combination of the three.
What a wonderful book, I couldn't put it down. It had a good story line and the suspense kept going. I would like to see more books about this tall red headed lady lawyer in Key West. What happens after she returns with her new guy from their sailing trip? And the newspaper guy, does he win an award for his article? I wasn't sure. There is enough bad guys still around to cause problems and make another interesting story. Look forward to reading it.
