How rough can you take it?
LOURDES
He was brazen as hell from the moment I laid eyes on him. He was aggressive, and dominant, with Mack truck arms, and a bar brawler voice.
He was too good looking for his own good, with a hard jaw, and harder eyes.
I’d always led a fairly peaceful life, but even I could tell at a glance that this man was dangerous. For so many reasons.
Not the least of which being that rough, dirty, sheet-clawing sex fairly radiated off him.
I’d thought I’d known how to handle every kind of man, but this one left me baffled.
To say he wasn’t my type was putting it lightly.
But you couldn’t tell that to my libido.
Not even when I found out the truth.
My lover had lied to me from the very start.
Nothing about our meeting was a coincidence.
This book can be read as a standalone.

This book was so strange that I don't know how to describe it. Lourdes is a 41 y/o divorced woman, professional photographer. She had a horrible marriage and even worse divorce. One year after, she had moved on and doing just great. She has two grown sons that are her pride and joy.One day while shopping groceries, she feels someone staring at her. Turning around she sees this hunk of a man, with the coldest blue eyes she's ever seen. Incredibly, all her synapses started firing. They went home and had wild, hanging from the chandeliers monkey sex. Thus starts an incredible love story.
Heath was so interesting. He reminded me of an old movie about an alien played by Jeff Bridges. This alien took the form of a human man and was trying to emulate the normal things humans do. Heath was like that. I recognized from his behavior that he was some CIA-black ops- type of guy. He had been through such grueling times, had seen and done so many inhuman stuff that he was cold and heartless and didn't have a normal wiring. And yet, he was so smitten with Lourdes that he tried, really hard, to be what she needed, what she wanted. I liked when Lourdes would tell him to say something sweet to her. He would express something about his need for her, or wanting to fulfill her wishes, that although not romantic, it would hit the spot. He was so confused when she tried to train him in dating protocol, it was funny and sweet. Those were my favorite parts of the book.
I liked about Lourdes that she was an older heroine, with a toned body that she maintains with vigorous workouts and she doesn't have any complexes about her body or her looks. She is a devoted mother, and she is at a stage of her life that she knows what she has working for her and is happy about it. This is what I call a realized woman and I loved that.
Of course, being with a black ops guy who is on a dangerous and very secretive mission has its drawbacks. Being in a relation with a black ops guy has its disadvantages, and Lourdes felt all of those. The plot has the required scorching hot sex scenes, thankfully not ridiculously lengthy, sweet moments, funny moments, and black ops horrible moments. Very entertaining, and I'd love to read more books by this author.

The Other Man edition by RK Lilley Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love everything RK Lilley writes. I've been dying to know about Heath and Lourdes since the Dair and Iris books. Plus this helped fill in the years at the end of the third book in that trilogy.
I also love how Ms. Lilley brings in past characters from other books and we get to see their lives at a different point in time.
I really grew to like Heath more than I thought I would after the trilogy with Dair. I felt like his love for Lourdes was believable. Yes it's definitely fiction and no real reasons were given about why he was a criminal and a killer in the beginning. It's implausible for a cultured woman like Lourdes to fall for someone like Heath and not be bothered by his early years but in romance you often just have to enjoy the fiction and not get too realistic. This was a good read in my opinion.
R.k. Lilley is one of my favorite authors and so I love reading her books. If you haven't read the Up in The Air Trilogy or Tristan and Danika I highly recommend them.
Wow! This book was intense and sexy as hell! Heath...hot damn! Heath and Lourdes's attraction was off the charts. Throughout the book, no matter what happened, there was no denying their chemistry, I was fixated on this book from page one. There was something about both characters that just left you reeling, wanting to know what was going to happen next.
Heath was a force to be reckon with. Though he didn't pursue Lourdes in a traditional fashion, their was excuse to be made that after that first initial meeting that Heath wasn't infatuated. Lourdes did something special to Heath. Made him feel peace for the first time in his life. Lourdes was exactly want he needed...and definitely want he wanted.
Lourdes...she is one strong, brave and charismatic woman. Though meeting Heath like she did was anything but normal, she felt this instant draw to Heath. Something that she had never felt before, but knew through her love of Romance novels and the love her friends had shared with their significant others, that what she had with Heath, no matter how abnormal, was the real deal. Made her feel something that she had always longed to feel but never knew really existed.
Heath and Lourdes relationship was far from conventional, but it was theirs. They had this unexplainable bond, but one they both desperately wanted. And regardless of the situation they would fight for that relationship they had. Nothing would stand it there way.
This book was an intense, energy fueled ride that I didn't want to end. From beginning to end I was captured. It was a whirl wind of emotion but it was intently fantastic! Strongly recommend this book to ANYONE looking for a captivating read.
This heroine is a financially secure photographer, recently divorced from an A Número Uno ass, mother of two grown sons. She drives a Tesla and lives alone in an upscale neighborhood in her own house in Las Vegas. She is half Spanish and half French and is an impressive home cook. She belongs to a weekly women's chat group and she is brave enough to be open about her personal life with those women, one of whom is an off-duty trained therapist. I like her situation and character so much.
She deserves so much better than the man who comes her way, up-ends her life, acts mysteriously and inadvertently puts her in pain, trauma, isolation and life-threatening danger. The ending is a bizarre spin on "happily ever after".
For some reason, I was thinking the young love interest male was an alien from outer space. His behavior was bizarre enough, and there were word choices made that suggested it. Why would the author hint at that plot direction? Kind of a surreal reading experience.
